Greetings and Farewell from the Hope First FRC Board:
We are saying goodbye to Board Member Karen Carlson, who has served Hope First for 6 years. Karen began as a steering committee member and has served in various roles-recording secretary, communication secretary, fundraising chairman
to name a few! Karen has always shown up EVERYWHERE we had a need and has given a tremendous amount of time and energy to help get the ministry where it is today. Her deep faith and love for God and her unwavering commitment to our pro-life/pro-family mission has kept our Board on track and accountable to our mission as well as an encouragement to every other Board Member and staff. There are no words to adequately thank her for this sacrificial giving- however we are extremely grateful for her,
and we will miss her energy, strong accountability, her encouragement and her smile!
We welcome Kathie Young to the Board. Kathie was first drawn to Hope First as she heard women in her Bible Study talk about the center and its mission, donating homemade baby blankets and learning more about our expanded scope of services. Kathie became a single mother after her husband passed away when her daughters were 9 and 10 years old.
She understands the struggles of single parents and the support needed for those families. She became more curious about ways she might help and came to the center to talk to Patrice, Board Chairman and Gigi, Interim Executive Director and discovered the need for we had for a fundraising chairman/event coordinator. Kathie felt her vast experience in the business world as well as being a former Volunteer Coordinator for Platte Valley Hospital equipped her well to step into this aspect of the
ministry. We are grateful for Kathie’s response to God’s call in this area! She is already working on the fall Banquet (set for Saturday, November 7, 2026 at Riverdale Golf Club) as she continues the on-boarding training for Hope First FRC Board.
New Construction: We are preparing the Medical Suite to open so that we can offer medical services such as ultrasounds and pregnancy tests! Randy Hunter, Board
Member and Building Coordinator, has been hard at work putting up new cabinets, painting and making other changes so that we can open this area of our building. More information to come on this!
We have had more churches and groups request Family Jars to hand out to their members to be filled and returned to help support the important work that Hope First does. If you are interested in finding out more about this awesome way
