Hello, from the desk of the Executive Director! I say that because I am
“filling in” for the Executive Director who will be hired as God leads the Board to the person He has chosen and as God leads the person He has chosen to the Board. I stepped into this position, after serving as Board Chairman, so that we can continue to grow, adding more staff members and offering medical services, seeing more clients and serving the communities God has given us the privilege to serve. I enter this role with a high degree of humble respect for the responsibilities as well as an
excitement to continue to follow Him as He leads. I began my decisive pro-life passion as a college student in the School of Nursing at the University of Pittsburgh during an OB/GYN clinical rotation at a nearby physician’s office. The first day I was in this office I was faced with the gruesome destruction of life that abortion really is- not only to the innocent baby, but to each person involved. I watched this physician
force a young woman into an abortion even though she protested and through tears asked to talk to her fiancé who was in the waiting room; she also begged to be able to call her mother, all to no avail. At the same time, the father of this baby begged to be allowed into the exam room to talk with his finance before any decisions were made-all these requests were denied, including my request to leave the room. There was a lot of heartbreaking loss that day alongside the passion God placed in me to
offer a better choice involving a conversation filled with hope and help.
This month we celebrate the Sanctity of Human Life- a Presidential Proclamation by President Reagan in 1984 established the third Sunday in January as Sanctity of
Human Life Sunday. Each year around this date many churches and Pregnancy Help Organizations talk about creative ways to offer help to those who are presently struggling with an unplanned pregnancy causing them to consider abortion as a remedy; as well as those who need healing from a past decision to abort an unborn child. Typically we look at the abortion statistics, which are staggering- especially in our state- (See the Charlotte Lozier Institute website:https://lozierinstitute.org/), legislative wins and losses as well. All of that is good as a backdrop to celebrating what over 3,000 pregnancy help centers do everyday across our nation- offer hope and help! Hope First Family Resource Center exists to be a beacon of hope to those who are seeking help for this crucial life decision as well as moms, dads and individuals who are struggling with parenting, relationships, budgeting; teens who are wondering what a healthy relationship looks like and whether having sex is a good idea for them; or grandparents who are now raising
grandchildren. We provide a safe, secure space to slow the conversation down, consider the decisions that need to be made, offer help and referrals while continuing to support our clients with on-going mentorship and advocacy. We are excited to be moving ahead as God leads building on the services we have in place: mentorship/advocacy, Bright Course
classes, and The Hope Exchange- our store. We are seeking a Clinic Manager/Nurse Manager to begin the process of opening our medical suite. We will be posting this position with a job description soon, however if you would like more information, please feel free to contact me: gigi.o@hopefirstfrc.com. Gratefully, Gigi
